Massapequa 523 Central Avenue 798-4607 Massapequa Park 40 Harbor Lane 799-0770 •The Harbor Lane Library will show the video House of Mirth, Thursday, April 11, 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. •In celebration of National Library Week, Long Island Reads, April 14 to 20, the Library at Harbor Lane will host a video showing the Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Wednesday, April 17, 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The Library also invites its patrons to read the novel The Great Gatsby. •The Massapequa Public library at Harbor Lane offers defensive driving courses for all ages on an ongoing basis. The fee is $40 per person. Registration is required by calling Driver Improvement Programs at 1-800-734-7883. •The Harbor Lane library offers AARP "55 Alive" Defensive Driving Courses, co-sponsored by the American Association of Retired Persons on an ongoing basis. A fee of $10 per person is payable by undated check to "AARP". Registration is required by visiting either library building. Farmingdale 116 Merritts Road 249-9090 •A spring craft of antique floral arrangement will be offered Thursday, April 11 and Thursday, April 18, 7 to 9 p.m. A registration fee for one evening is $14 payable by check only to the Farmingdale Public Library and should be brought to the reference desk. •Members of the Farmingdale Rotary Club will share an hour of stories and song, Wednesday, April 17, 11:30 a.m. This is recommended for children ages two and one half to five with a parent. Tickets should be picked up at the Library. •Senior Connections staff is available to assist seniors and their families, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to noon. Amityville Oak and John Streets 631-264-0567 •Volunteers from the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program will be at the Amityville Public Library Sunday, April 14, 1 to 5 p.m. to assist in the preparation of basic federal and state income tax forms. Preregistration is required. •In-house registration is underway for all children’s programs from April through June. These programs are free and will include Tiny Tots, Mommy and Me, Mother’s Day crafts and other activities.
